New Directions

So this was the big weekend for the direction of the evening service that I have been waiting excitedly for. The evening kicked off with a huge blessing for my wife and I of meeting a bunch of new people from our Church and getting aquainted with them in some fellowship. Afterwards, Pastor Eric gave us the vision for the Saturday service. It centered around the words of Acts 2:42-47

"42 They joined with the other believers and devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, sharing in the Lord's Supper and in prayer. 43 A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. 44 And all the believers met together constantly and shared everything they had. 45 They sold their possessions and shared the proceeds with those in need. 46 They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord's Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity – 47 all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their group those who were being saved."

The core message was that there isn't going to be another methodolgy or formula or system that will define the community but it will be a community centered around the values of devotion to the apostles teaching, fellowship, the Lord's Supper, and prayer. The most exciting thing for me is that there are very few practical things that are laid out around those values. The practical aspects will be developed organicly within the context of the community. Hopefully, with a committed number of people the results will be similar to the results of the apostles.
